Rautahat: Gagan Kumar Thapa has accused the current government of sidelining both the parliament and the citizens.

Speaking at a cadre meeting in Chandranigahpur during his visit to Sarlahi-4, Thapa expressed strong dissatisfaction with the government’s working style. He argued that even with a clear majority, the government appears to lack trust in the parliament.

“It is irresponsible to postpone the parliament session without any information after it has already been scheduled,” he said.

Thapa also criticized the government’s move to introduce ordinances by bypassing parliament, calling it a failure to keep citizens informed. He dismissed claims that the session was postponed at the request of lawmakers as “misleading propaganda.”

He further raised concerns about the functioning of the Constitutional Council, alleging that it is being shaped to serve narrow interests, similar to past practices. According to him, moving forward unilaterally without consultation with opposition parties is a wrong approach.

Despite the criticism, Thapa stated that the Nepali Congress is ready to support the government in reform efforts, but warned that the party will not remain silent if parliamentary norms and democratic processes are ignored.

Thapa is currently visiting Sarlahi-4—the constituency where he was defeated in the last election—to thank voters and understand local concerns. He is scheduled to meet constituents at various locations throughout the day.
